In Memory . . .
Joseph Hill, 1949 – 2006
Joseph Hill, Culture's charismatic leader and lead vocalist, passed away August 19, 2006, in Berlin, Germany, while on tour. As the headliner for the 2006 Bayfront Reggae Festival, Hill made the event truly special and will be missed by reggae fans worldwide.

Culture, reggae’s preeminent harmony group, garnered international acclaim as the leading exponent of “conscious reggae,” inspiring audiences at countless performances throughout the world. Hill is considered one of the best songwriters in the history of roots reggae. His legendary “Two Sevens Clash” won Reggae Album of the Year and is ranked 25th in Rolling Stone Magazine’s 50 all-time coolest records. In 2003, Culture released its latest addition to their musical legacy, the brilliant 30th album, “World Peace.”

Recently, Hill was inducted into the Jamaican Reggae Walk of Fame and won a 2005 Independence Award presented by the Prime Minister of Jamaica.
